Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, or other special needs
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document administration accurately
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding if necessary
- Engage in social activities and provide companionship to promote emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for individuals under your care
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of individuals' health information
Skills:
- Experience in providing care for individuals with dementia or developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and ability to accurately record and report them
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Understanding of nursing home care practices and protocols
- Ability to administer medications following proper procedures and guidelines
- Proficiency in meal preparation, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed if applicable
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals, their families, and healthcare professionals
- Experience in social work or childcare is a plus
