OVERVIEW: Riverwards Produce is an enterprise of produce-focused markets in Philadelphia, PA
The Store Manager position at Riverwards Produce takes ownership of all in-store operations, staff, and aesthetics. They have an expert knowledge of grocery and produce operations. They work to turn employee and customer suggestions into realities. They coordinate frequently with department managers to ensure proper staffing, operational efficiency, and store cleanliness. They work to be the driving force behind store cohesion.
Reports to: General Manager
Directly Manages: Department Managers, Buyers, Receiver & Associates
Responsibilities:
- Takes ownership of cross-departmental store operations and communications
- Responsible for training, scheduling, and directing all floor staff and managers
- Makes decisions on staff hiring, firing, and compensation
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Ensures that daily and weekly store checklists are completed
- Promotes an enthusiastic communicative work environment and great customer service experience
- Responsible for maintenance, cleanliness, organization of store equipment facilities and health code compliance
- Maintains store supply inventory for all departments
- Functions as the senior authority during hours of operation
- Works with department managers to set daily staff priorities
- Serves as a primary point of contact for customer service escalations
- Manages long-term product department projects
- Creates and maintains procedural documentation and implements systems to uphold company standards
- Participates in floor work including stocking, receiving, cashiering, and merchandising
- Collaborates with department managers to determine product mix and price margins
- Maintains expert working knowledge of POS operations
Requirements
- Strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills
- Working knowledge of common retail sales metrics
- Minimum 3 years management experience
- Previous management experience in a grocery or high-end food service setting
- Experience receiving, processing, and merchandising in a grocery retail setting
- Ability to roll with the punches of a rapidly growing start-up business
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and spend 8+ hours standing and walking up and down stairs
- Must work weekends and evenings
COMPENSATION: This position is salaried. Compensation is dependent upon experience. Riverwards Produce provides a 20% discount on all store products.
