Positions available immediately and throughout the school year as part-time Instructors for Mad Science and ART-ventures for Kids After-School programs in the Hartford and Springfield suburbs, five-colleges area. We are the Western New England branch of Mad Science and ART-ventures, leading providers of fun and educational programs for kids worldwide. Science or art background helpful but not required. You will teach educational, hands-on activities with kids ages 5-12. All of our programs provide a mix of education and entertainment. Programs are conducted in area schools as after-school programs and in-class curriculum enhancement workshops during the school year. There is also the potential to perform at birthday parties on weekends and in stage shows at festivals, schools, pre-schools, company events and other locations, as well as in camps during the summer months.
Job Requirements: Experience with groups of young children, typically in groups of 15-20 kids preferred. Ability to demonstrate and facilitate activities. Should have an outgoing and energetic personality.
Must be available weekdays at least 2 days/week (after 2 pm) for after-school programs and/or some weekend days if interested in birthday parties or events. Strong sense of commitment, dedication and reliability is mandatory - after school programs run through the entire year. Theatre/performance experience helpful for shows and events. Must also have a reliable car and be willing to travel to multiple locations throughout the region (paid travel costs). We offer highly competitive pay rates (approx. $38-40 per one hour class plus travel (takes into account prep time - based on 2 hours on site), fully paid training & orientation.
