Supervising Program Coordinator - Drop In
Summary:
Streetwork Project is an innovative outreach-counseling program for homeless youth in Manhattan, which utilizes a harm reduction approach. Services include counseling, HIV prevention case management, peer education and outreach, drop-in center, support groups, needle exchange, acupuncture, mental health services, legal and medical care. The Supervising Program Coordinator will work with the Streetwork supervisors, in providing direct supervision of Youth Service Aides.
Responsibilities:

Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients;

Engagement of adolescents into program structure (harm reduction philosophy, rules, mutual respect)

Milieu counseling; Mediation for internal conflicts

Provide oversight in the facilitation of clients’ access to daily living needs (food, clothes, hygiene supplies, space to rest)

Coordinate the connection of clients to Housing Navigators, Coordinator of Housing and Coordinator of benefits and resources; provide accompaniment as necessary and requested by clients

Oversee the planning and organization of special events and drop-in group activities

Assist Supervising Social Worker and the Assistant Director, in facilitating intakes/assessments and resolution of emergency situations

Provide direct supervision to drop-in based staff (Youth Service Aides)

Collaborate with the program leadership on program needs and services

Participate in weekly case conferencing meetings and clinical group process

Maintain routine administrative responsibilities to include the preparation of correspondence, maintaining files, mail, email, and telephone.
- Participation in staff trainings, staff meetings, and staff group process workshops
- Participate in weekly supervision

Interacts with:
Required skills:
- Experience with LGBTQ, homeless and street-involved youth populations required;
- Experience with supervising or managing staff, and/or providing program leadership;
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with direct service to similar populations, or a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working with homeless youth required, or at least 2 years of experience working at Streetwork;
- 1-2 years’ experience supervising or managing staff.
Other:
- Knowledge of homeless youth services and resources preferred
- Spanish-speaking skills are preferred

Hiring Pay Range: 28.57 - 32.14 Hourly
Full-time Hours: 35 Hours per week
