Riverview Campus: Our Riverview campus offers grades K-9 and enrolls students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, ADHD and high functioning autism spectrum disorder. Our goal is to prepare our students to transfer to our high school program in Seffner.
Seffner Campus: Our Seffner campus offers grades 1-12 and enrolls students with specific learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, ADHD and high functioning autism spectrum disorder. This location offers three high school completion options:
- 24-credit standard diploma - includes four credits each of Math, ELA, Science, History, and an additional eight elective credits are required for graduation.
- Modified diploma - includes a modified curriculum for Math, ELA, Science, and History. The activities and curriculum will be "Modified" to maximize a student's participation. Students will also take elective classes with their peers.
- Special diploma - the special diploma options offer choices to students with disabilities who are unable to meet the requirements for a standard diploma. The special diploma has benchmarks at three levels: independent, supported, and participatory.
Valrico Campus: Our Autism Center offers grades K-8 and specializes in educating students on the autism spectrum. Here, we serve students by providing individualized educational programs with four main goals: academics, social skills development, emotional and behavioral wellness, and daily functional living skills.
Exceptional Center: Our Exceptional Center is a program for students in grades 1-12 diagnosed with down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities, and cognitive and developmental delays. Our goal with this program is to develop independent functioning in real life skills and to prepare our students for entry into our transition program for ages 18-22.
Livingstone Schools, Inc (LSI)
Livingstone Schools, Inc. (LSI) was founded in 2003 as an independent, non-profit, private school that specializes in educating and ministering to the needs of children with unique abilities and their families. Livingstone Academy serves students in grades K-12; providing a continuum of services based on the individual requirements of each student. We provide a positive learning environment for students with Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism, Asperger’s, Speech and Language disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and Cognitive and/or Developmental delays and intellectual disabilities. We are a school for students with learning disabilities.
*We are not a school that is equipped to address the needs of students with mental health, psychiatric, or behavioral disorders such as bipolar disorder, mood disorder, ODD, EBD, and schizophrenia.

Lead Teacher
The Lead Teacher is the backbone of our schools and leads our overall classroom experience and culture. The Lead Teacher plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages our students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This person provides a safe environment and instruction for children designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. The Lead Teacher provides day-to-day supervision of students and classroom staff. The role develops individual goals for our students and encourages parents’ involvement in all aspects of the program. This role takes direction from the Principal.
Employment Status and Schedule:
This is a full-time, exempt position with a 10-month term during the school year and a mutual offer with intent to return in subsequent school years.
Teachers must be in the classroom to greet students at 8:00AM and stay on campus until 3:00PM. Teachers may utilize their planning period before school (7AM – 8AM) or afterschool (3PM – 4PM) or at home. We view teachers as professionals and trust you will get your planning done.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Instructional
Create instructional activities that facilitate an active learning experiences for our students:
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver schemes of work and lesson plans, using approved curriculum established with administration.
- Submit lesson plans as required.
- Create substitute plans prepared and available in case of absence or emergency.
Prepare classroom and provide a variety of learning materials and resources to ensure students receive an excellent learning experience.
Monitor the progress of individual students, maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development as required by school regulations.
Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments, and provide appropriate feedback on progress and development.
Keep up to date with developments in subject areas, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
Student Accommodations and Success
Identify and select accommodating instructional techniques to meet students' varying needs which may include:
- Review the Individualized Education Program (IEP) & medical records of our students.
- Record all pertinent information, including but not limited to: allergies, any medical conditions and behavior concerns
- Review this information with the Teaching Assistant and make it available for reference.
- Adhere to accommodations/modifications listed on Student Needs Overview
Communicate with students, parents, therapists, and other professionals regarding student progress.
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
Supervision and Evaluation
Responsible for providing direction to the Teaching Assistant
School, Home, and Community
Provide simple daily housekeeping duties in the classroom.
Plan, coordinate, and attend field trips that correspond to the academic program.
Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings, etc.
Schedule parent conferences each semester, or as needed.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Patience, compassion, and flexibility are a must to help our students with their personal challenges.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance is essential.
- Provide a safe and engaging environment for all children in alignment with the school's employee and student handbooks.
- Must be available to be on campus during the scheduled work hours.
Education & Certifications:
Eligible candidates must meet one of the following requirements to teach:
1. Certified Teacher, or
2. A Bachelor’s degree in any field, or
3. A minimum of three years teaching experience is preferred at public or private schools, or
4. Special skills, knowledge, or expertise that allows effective teaching of a curriculum in a specific subject area
