Major Duties
- Set up, operate, maintain high speed and/or manual production equipment to efficiently produce a quality product.
- Fabricate aluminum parts by operating equipment such as chop saw, table saw, band saw, drill press, and Bridgeport and surface grinders.
- Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process.
- Calculate material measurements to verify specifications.
- Align parts with a square to match drawings and hold exact tolerances, fabricate a jig to expedite the production of finished parts.
- Grind external surfaces.
- Remove metal by the application of abrasives which are bonded to form a rotating wheel.
- Rough and finish flat, cylindrical, and conical surfaces.
- Read and interpret charts, drawings, and blueprints.
- Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground.
- Determine grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used.
- Lift or hoist work-pieces.
- Confirm ground work-piece has the correct specifications.
- Change worn grinding wheels.
- Inspect all products to ensure it meets quality expectations prior to forwarding to the next operator.
- Participate in the maintenance of equipment and cleanup of the work area to ensure safety and productivity goals are met.
- Ensure that the daily production commitments are met.
- Adheres to all facets of safety policies and procedures.
- Stack or load finished items.
- Perform preventative maintenance duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Accurately & efficiently comprehend paperwork.
- Setup station with proper materials.
- Locate & retrieve materials to process operation.
- Organize part on pallet with proper stock number & count.
- Keep work area clean and organized, a safe environment.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned and required.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
Training: Quality requirements and Grinding spec.
Skills: Mechanical - Ability to understand instructions and read drawings to produce parts for in house machinery.
Experience: Factory Experience - 2-5 years’ experience preferred, will train candidate that shows strong aptitude for this type of work.
