Maintenance Person
Overview
Grabber School of Hair Design is a premier beauty school in St. Louis offering cosmetology, esthetician and manicuring programs. We are looking to hire an additional maintenance person an independent contractor with a concentration in electrical projects and general maintenance.
Overall expectation is to provide preventative care, maintenance, and simple repairs to electrical systems. Strong background in electrical work is required. The duties and responsibilities of the position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide an estimate of repair (and/or replacement) costs beyond the capability to perform.
- Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
- Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
- Install appliances and equipment
- Performing quality checks on HVAC, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical systems
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues
- Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and cleaning
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
- Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues
Requirements and skills
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
- Experience using hand and electrical tools
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina and dexterity
- Organizational and time management skills

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Work Experience: 2+ years of machine or electrical maintenance, repair, or similar
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent education required
Organization Skills: Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills
Physical: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
