Job Summary
This position is responsible for developing and maintaining computer programs, systems and databases including analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging, troubleshooting and maintaining programs, systems and data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop programs and system applications using a variety of programming languages and development tools
- Coordinate problem resolution when hardware or software problems arise
- Monitor the status of reported issues until resolved and keep appropriate parties informed of unresolved problems and outstanding issues
- Develop and maintain expertise in the administration of all company databases, maintain databases and develop custom queries and reports
- Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of the core data processing system software
- Work closely with other staff in the development of software systems and documentation
- Ensure documentation is maintained for all departmental operational procedures in area of responsibility in order to provide continuity in operations
- Assist, consult, and help troubleshoot issues with staff with the efficient use of desktop software including Microsoft Office applications, core systems and client software, and Internet / Intranet applications
- Provide PC/Network technical support backup as needed, including monitoring tickets, providing technical assistance with problem resolution and training staff (as needed).
- Maintain, trouble-shoot and enhance existing systems, including analysis, design and debugging
- Report and update the status of projects and work assignments
- Proactively learn and utilize new technologies, concepts and procedures as appropriate to project requirements
- Provide technical input to other areas and gather technical data from outside organizations
- Plan and execute testing and implementation of major systems
- Contribute to project plans and support their implementation
- Develop, implement and test system implementations
- Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
System Developer I
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering or related field and some exposure through internships, externships or other experience with software development.
- This is an entry-level developer position where work is assigned as needed. A moderate amount of guidance and mentoring are expected in order to develop knowledge and skills. Initiative and critical thinking are key competencies.
- C++ expereince is required
System Developer II
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least three years of relevant experience. This is an intermediate-level position.
- The Software Develop II may own a functional area and is capable of managing larger, more complex projects, takes operational responsibility, sets appropriate goals, meets deadlines, reviews code changes and may help mentor new developers.
- Additional skill development and guidance from a senior developer or supervisor may be required with unfamiliar programs.
