Overall Purpose Of The Job
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.
Hospitalists are responsible for maintaining the highest quality standard of hospital care at the Northern Arizona VA Medical Center. They will manage and coordinate treatment plans, oversee transitions of care, and collaborate closely with specialists to ensure patients receive optimal care during their hospital stay.
Key Responsibilities
Hospitalists shall provide Evaluation, Treatment and Management of patient care. They will admit and coordinate all aspects of care for hospitalized medical patients including:
- Admission, including history and physical examinations
- Appropriate placement within the Hospital
- Evaluation and treatment, including the ordering and interpretation of diagnostic studies, including laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and electrocardiographic examinations, and the administration of medications normally considered part of the practice of hospitalist medicine
- Discussion of end of life preferences/advanced care planning
- Consultations with sub-specialists
- Timely and proactive discharge planning
- Coordination of care with primary care physician
- Discharge including ensuring appropriate follow-up is arranged, This may include perioperative care but generally excludes preoperative assessments of patients for determination of fitness for surgery
Job Profile
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Full Unrestricted License from any US state, by provider type
- Board Certified Physician
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a hospitalist
Education Required:
Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent required. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Physical Requirements:
The incumbent must be able to perform all activities of the position without restriction.
- Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 50-100 lbs. with assistance)
- Prolonged extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
- Lifts, positions, pushes, and /or transfers patients.
Other Special Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance

Pay: $265,321.00 - $290,000.00 per year
