The Financial Analyst II will be responsible for accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting support of the Transmission Florida organization within Power Grid Operations. This position works closely with the business partners to analyze and report variances, understand trends, and help to execute the financial plans. Key activities include financial planning, managing the budget development as well as monthly, year to date, and year-end financial analysis. The role will work with business representatives at all levels to provide the expertise/assistance necessary for the business to achieve financial success.
This is the third level of the financial analysis classification hierarchy. Employees at this level will work in a self-directed manner while receiving guidance from team. Incumbents are required to have knowledge and experience while continuing to progress toward solving complex problems.
Responsibilities
Ensure timely and accurate analysis and reporting:
Provide and present accurate and relevant financial analysis and management capital reporting to the Florida Transmission organizations to enable strategic decision-making
Analyze and consolidate management financial reporting including actuals, budgets and projections including variance explanations
Support months end close activities, including preparing/reviewing journal entries
Maintain good working knowledge of accounting policies and impacts as required
Ensure effective budget & business planning process:
Support the budget and business planning process including communication of budget guidance, assumptions, and calendars for organization
Ensure budgets are uploaded to correct target amounts utilizing OneStream Planning tool
Partner with Regional Portfolio Manager/Project Controls to ensure loaded budget matches approved Enterprise Capital Optimization (ECO) outcomes
Special Projects/ Other:
Build relationships & promote two-way communication with business partners and Finance peers
Actively seek to identify and meet business partner needs with a sense of urgency, taking ownership of customer issues and problems
Help provide guidance to business partners on complex accounting issues & capitalization guidelines
Participate as a team member for various special projects or financial studies
Assist with regulatory filings/data requests
Required/Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
Two (2) or more years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree
Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
Experience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft, HFM, PowerPlan, etc.) and query tool (WebI)
Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word and Power Point
Desired Qualifications
CPA or working toward CPA
Advanced degree, preferably in Accounting
Four (4) or more years of professional work-related experience
Experience applying GAAP accounting principles
Demonstrated analytical/problem solving skills and strong business acumen
Ability to understand business operations and apply business acumen to identify issues and propose innovative solutions
Experience in regulated utility accounting
Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build relationships with business partners at all levels within the organization
Ability to work independently and in a team environment; demonstrated initiative within current team
