Job Description:
The Studio Manager is a talented photographer who will oversee the operations of the Chicago studio, including maintenance and upkeep of equipment, the flow of samples in and out of the studio, and will manage in-house and freelance team members. This position will be the primary photographer, shooting ecommerce product photography off and on-model and will provide retouching support as needed. Reporting to the Director of Studio Operations, the photographer will collaborate with clients, models, stylists, and other crew members to produce high-quality product photos and will work closely with the Los Angeles studio production team. This role will follow brand-specific guidelines for multiple clients and maintain quality standards during shooting, always working to improve production workflow.
Responsibilities:
- Photograph and style a wide assortment of products, including apparel, accessories, jewelry, and health/beauty while following brand guidelines & photo directives.
- Manage timelines and production workflow in the studio to ensure all projects are completed on time.
- Managing team members to ensure standards are closely followed.
- Oversee sample processing in and out of the studio.
- Daily opening and closing of the Chicago studio.
- Set up and breakdown lighting/grip and carry heavy equipment.
- Maintain photo equipment & organization of the studio.
- Keep software up to date.
- Retouch product images as needed while maintaining Hyperblack & brand objectives and image quality standards.
- Name, save, & archive assets according to defined specifications.
- Manage color accuracy.
- Drive ongoing process improvements and organizational efficiency
Qualifications:
- Strong leader with the ability to direct team members and models.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a studio environment with experience working with models.
- Proficient in Canon and Profoto systems.
- Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Capture One and tethering.
- Strong portfolio of work demonstrating on-brand product photography.
- Strong attention to detail, composition, and color.
- Ability to function calmly and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize on the go. Remain flexible to accommodate client needs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Proficient with Google Drive apps.
- Experience working across multiple brands is a plus.
