ER Registered Nurse - Wilson County, TX
Compensation: $33 - $45 per hour plus differentials (DOE)
Hours/Shifts: 32 to 40 hours per week, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM Central

About the Job
Provides general nursing care to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, infirmaries, or similar healthcare facilities by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Director, provides nursing care to assigned patients.
- Manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing following departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
- Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Prepares equipment and aids Physicians during the treatment and examination of patients.
- Maintains awareness of the comfort and safety needs of patients.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify the supervisor or Physician of the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient.
- Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients.
- Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the Physician and/or hospital policy including patient and family instruction.
- Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for minor procedures in the Emergency Department.
- Assists with procedures by handing items to a Physician, Surgeon, Obstetrician, or other medical practitioner.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a BSN
- Five (5) years of emergency services experience as a direct care provider
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- CPR and ACLS are required
- TNCC or ATCN
- ENPC or PALS certifications are preferred.
- Ability to care for multiple patients.
- Flexibility in scheduling and in moving within patient care areas.
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Willing to fulfill a role as Charge RN, when needed
- Able to work in the evening or graveyard shift
- Able to work in Wilson County Texas
