Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Department: Production Support Reports to: Manager Job Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance work. Equipment installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service, and repair of printing equipment throughout the facility including plumbing, piping, and other building and print production support services needed. Job Description: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repair and maintenance of various printing and finishing machines including HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, walk-in cooler, icemakers, and air dryers for air compressors, air compressors, vacuum pumps, electric motors, belt drives and mechanical couplings. This position requires familiarity with Building Control systems and have a good understanding of chillers and chill water systems, chemical treatment, and water softeners, as well as experience working with overhead doors, fire doors, dock equipment, rail dock equipment, toilets, urinals, drain cleaning, tracing the origin of roof leaks, and temporary repairs. Contribute to an accident-free work environment by complying with all company rules and regulations Qualifications: Education High school diploma or GED Completion of a maintenance program at a vocational/technical school or a recognized apprenticeship program in general mechanical maintenance Experience Mechanical and industrial maintenance experience Required Skills Possess basic welding, soldering and metal fabrication skills. Interpret and work from blueprints, mechanical drawings, and sketches. Possess good oral, reading and writing skills for effective communication. Mechanic must furnish their own basic set of mechanic hand tools. Must know how to properly operate and maintain power tools to always keep them in safe working order Qualifications (cont’d): Preferred Skills Strong mechanical background. HVAC, plumbing, piping, fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics is preferred Physical Requirements Ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. Physical endurance and mobility for prolonged standing, walking, frequent bending, stooping, and reaching. Ability to work from ladders, lifts, or elevated platforms – indoors and outdoors – and be able to work in confined spaces. Ability to work a 12-hour shift and be available for overtime as required
