The purpose of the class is to frequently operate light to medium equipment and perform manual labor in the maintenance of Dorchester County Detention Center; to maintain assigned equipment; and to perform other work as required. This class works according to some procedures but decides how or when to do things; work is reviewed regularly by supervisor.
This position may close prior to posted closing date if sufficient qualified applicants are received.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May run wires for computers, outlets, switches, etc.
Uses hand and power tools in various manual tasks as required.
Manually loads/unloads materials onto vehicles.
Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools and equipment.
Assists co-workers with various duties as required.
Maintains accurate records of work performed.
Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
Attends training as required to maintain or enhance job knowledge and skills.
May perform work in areas where inmates are confined.
Performs other related job duties as assigned.
