We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team at our Atlanta location. This is a great opportunity with a great company. The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting the Director of Human Resources and the Vice President, Atlanta Operations with the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and the management of the most important asset of the Jerry Pate Company, its team members. The HR Generalist helps with the implementation of services, policies, and programs within Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation, as well as Century Equipment, A Jerry Pate Company. Responsibilities include but are not limited to processing payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, workers compensation program, time entry, 401(k) administration, conducting background checks, etc. The Human Resources department consists of the Director and new HR Generalist supporting our 230+ team members/employees located in four states. This role works in the office daily from 8 am to 5 pm. This is not a remote position. This role handles the day-to-day administrative/data entry tasks for our HR department. This is a hands on role. Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week based on work load.
Competencies/Skills:
- Bachelors or equivalent degree. Minimum of two years of HR experience.
- Certified in Human Resources preferred.
- Able to exhibit an elevated level of confidentiality.
- Knowledge of various and applicable state and federal laws governing business.
- Possess strong human resource management skills: hiring, retention, motivation, coaching, problem solving, training and termination.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- The ability to recommend changes to our internal HR processes after learning our industry and our team members.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to travel heavily in the first few months for training and visiting all locations to meet our team members. Branches are located in Pensacola, Atlanta, Birmingham as well as three locations in Ohio. Must have the ability and willingness to travel with multiple overnight stays via airplane, car, or other appropriate means of transportation. This includes but may not be limited to facility and field visits, vendor visits, continued education, and other business related activities. After initial training period, the travel will be limited.
