Job Title: Program Coordinator for Spiritual Life & Social Justice

Reports to: University Chaplain and Executive Director of Spiritual Life & Social Justice
Summary: The Program Coordinator oversees the delivery of a broad range of
programs and activities within the Spiritual Life and Justice Initiatives programs, as well
as ULead 360 and the upcoming programs in Bridging the Gap (civil dialogue about
difficult topics) and Circles of Purpose (helping students make meaning, discover
purpose, and explore their sense of calling in life).. The Coordinator will serve on the
Spiritual Life Leadership Council and the Justice Leadership Council, working closely with
the College Minister, Graduate Assistants, and undergraduate student leaders. This role
involves strategic leadership, program development, and supervision of all related
activities and initiatives.
Key Accountabilities:
Coordinator Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop partnerships with individuals, departments, and outside entities
(churches, faith organizations, social-justice organizations) to achieve the best
results for the spiritual and social development of the college community.
Help establish and communicate program objectives consistent with
organizational goals and mission.
Engage in strategic planning and implementation of weekly and occasional
programming related to spiritual life and/or social justice.
Program Development:
Plan and oversee the administration of Spiritual Life and Justice Initiatives
programs and activities, as well ULead 360 and upcoming programs in Bridging
the Gap and Circles of Purpose programs.
Organize special events/programs and ensure their alignment with organizational
goals.
Oversee proper record keeping, including attendance, activity participation,
communication issues, etc.
Ensure quality in day-to-day programs and activities.
Coordination of Staff and Student Leaders:
Coordinate Graduate Assistants and undergraduate student leaders who lead
weekly activities.
Train new student leaders and coordinate the use of program forms and
procedures.
Represent the College Minister in meetings as needed.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational
workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks,
and participating in professional societies.
Administrative Duties:
Produce information and reports as requested.
Conserve University Chaplain’s time by managing correspondence, drafting
letters and documents, collecting and analyzing information, and initiating
telecommunications.
Welcome guests and customers by greeting them in person or on the telephone;
answering or directing inquiries.
Maintain participant confidence and protect operations by keeping information
confidential.
Develop and utilize filing and retrieval systems; record meeting discussions.
Maintain office and program supply inventory and complete purchase orders as
needed.
Additional Duties:
Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
Additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Skills & Knowledge:
Demonstrated leadership skills and effective communication skills.
Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and to use good judgment.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, staff, faculty,
administrators, and contracted groups.
Ability to coordinate students and professional staff.
Experience and Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred: Experience working on spiritually oriented and/or social-justice
oriented programs and/or in supervisory/management roles.
