POSITION TITLE: Medical Billing Support Specialist
LOCATION: HOPE Clinic
REPORTS TO: Revenue Cycle Manager
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED Required;
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years working in healthcare, whether in a clinical or ancillary setting or a Revenue Cycle department, is highly preferred.
SALARY RANGE: $16-$20/hour
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting Revenue Cycle with daily activities needed for optimal cash flow and meeting the Revenue Cycle’s KPIs. This position will provide customer service support and clerical support to the billing department. Responsibilities will include making inbound and outbound phone calls, as well as sending emails to patients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in general office duties required in billing setting. These include but are not limited to answering telephone call, preparing reports, filing documents, following up with payors, claimants etc.;

Scan, upload, and document all correspondence to patients’ documents, in ECW and assign to billers or responsible parties;

Manage Collectly inquiries and address them as needed and /or follow up with the appropriate biller for resolution;

Submit write-offs for patient bad debt by the 5th business day of the upcoming month for the previous month;

Download weekly Medicaid remittance reports and save them to Billing Shared Folder;

Prepares payer meeting workbook on outstanding payer accounts and issues;

Attending payer meetings;

Assist management with reporting and meeting agendas;

Maintain best practices and alignment with Compliance and HIPAA Guidelines;

Follow up with HOPE Clinic’s payers on outstanding balances;

Follow up on appealed claims;

Identify exhausted accounts and adjust to the appropriate denial code as needed;

Identify payer issues and trends and works with management and the Revenue Cycle Specialist to resolve them;

Reach out to patients with declined cards and missing payment forms;

Verify insurance for clients scheduled as needed;

Attend on-site/off-site community engagement activities, clinic events, and/or training as needed;

Perform other duties as assigned to support HOPE Clinic’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, and/or Spanish with English) Spanish is preferred;

Two years or more experience in the billing/revenue cycle department is preferred;

Must be able to review and EOB/ERA;

Analytical skills required;

Intermediate Excel experience (pivot tables, tables, formulas);
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma required;

Coding or billing certification preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, and/or Spanish with English) is preferred.

Above average skills in language ability as well as public speaking and writing.

Must have good transportation and a valid Texas Driver’s license.
