Family is seeking a Private Ranch Chef that is flexible to travel and open to working some weekends and holidays. This a great opportunity for someone who enjoys creating meals and can provide an array of options within the family's standards.
Job Objective: Provide family and guests a dining experience and proficient in cooking an array of dishes for both small and large groups.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute meals according to employer’s needs and diet restrictions
- Oversee purchasing to stay within certain budget
- Adhere to all cooking guidelines to ensure serving food at proper temperatures.
- Travel with employers to provide meal preparation at other locations.
- Specialize in preparing fancy dishes or food for special diets.
- Ability to cook meals for large groups up to 25
- Track, record and maintain inventory stock including foods, beverages and kitchen supplies
- Monitoring food presentation
- Identify new culinary techniques and presentations
- Delegate tasks to staff assisting in the kitchen and during service
- Keep kitchen and cooking utensils clean at all times
- Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
- Perform administrative duties
- Coordinate schedules and meals with Estate Manager to ensure timely delivery of food
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in experience in a head chef or managerial kitchen position
- Able to travel 8 months out of the year to various work locations as needed
- Passion for creating a kitchen culture that is professional and fun, with an “others first”, service-hearted attitude
- Must have Farm and Ranch experience
- Strong culinary skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Goal driven with a passion for excellence and achievement
- Possess a high sense of urgency
- Ability to deal with last minute changes quickly, efficiently and without complaint
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once
- Impeccable manners and understanding of protocol
- Able to effectively communicate with all parties in a professional manner
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Positive, upbeat and pleasant while exhibiting confidence and can-do attitude
- Flexible to work long hours including some evening hours
- Willing to stay on property overnight where housing will be provided
