SUMMARY OF COMPANY
Southwest Shipyard, LP provides gas freeing and cleaning services, steaming, and flaring services, Barge and boat repair, Surface preparation and painting, water treatment and new construction services to the commercial and government marine industry. Southwest Shipyard owns and operates four (4) shipyards in South Texas with direct deep-water access to the Gulf of Mexico. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities are to supervise Blast & Paint operations with the following objectives:

Conduct sandblast & paint activities in compliance with all facility specific, state and federal environmental and safety regulations.

Conduct inspections of completed jobs and complete appropriate paperwork.

Ensure data accumulation for sandblast & paint usage and environmental reporting.

Conduct sandblast & paint functions in compliance with quality assurance requirements specified in Quality & Environmental Manual and procedures.
DUTIES:
-
Make sure actual sandblast & painting operations follow safety and quality procedures.

Operate dock equipment, correct minor problems, read and interpret measuring devices, abiding by all safety rules and regulations.

Train painters in the handling and application of sandblast & paint/coating functions.

Conduct necessary sandblast, paint & coating paperwork and reports as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
-
2–3 years in vessel sandblast & paint, including equipment operation, with leadership experience preferred.

Must have good communication skills, leadership ability, with proficiency in English.

Understand company policies and procedures.
-
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
-
Experience in a manufacturing or shipbuilding environment.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Barge chemical environment. Requires prolonged kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry in access of 120 lbs, assisted.

Ability to work in varied conditions (i.e.: heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.), inside and outside.
-
Able to work in confined space, heights and operate equipment efficiently and safely.
SCHEDULE:
Night shift - must be available for overtime and weekends.
