TITLE: Director of Music and Performing Arts

MAIN JOB FUNCTION: As the Elementary Music and Performing Arts Director, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a dynamic and engaging environment for students to explore their creativity and develop their talents in music and performing arts. You will deliver comprehensive music and arts programs that inspire, educate, and empower students from TK-6th Grades. This role requires a passion for music and the performing arts, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment
HOURS: 12:00PM-4:30PM Monday-Friday This can become a full time yearly contract position for the right applicant.
JOB SUMMARY
Curriculum Development: Develop and oversee a comprehensive music and performing arts curriculum aligned with national and state standards, ensuring sequential learning experiences that cater to students' developmental stages and diverse learning needs.
Instructional Leadership: Ensure that their is quality lesson plans, instructional strategies, and assessment methods to enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
Program Management: Coordinate and manage all aspects of the elementary music and performing arts program, including , scheduling of events, working with vendors to procure facilities and equipment. ensuring all materials, set pieces and program needs are met.
Professional Development: Participate professional development opportunities for music and arts to enhance your skills, knowledge, and pedagogical practices in music education and performing arts.
Collaboration: Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, parents, and community stakeholders to integrate music and performing arts across the curriculum and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Student Engagement: Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity, develop their talents, and cultivate a lifelong appreciation for music and the performing arts.
Performance Events: Organize and oversee various music concerts, recitals, theatrical productions, and other performing arts events throughout the school year to showcase students' achievements and celebrate their artistic talents. Ensure all volunteers are secured for the events.
Assessment and Evaluation: Implement assessment tools and methodologies to monitor student progress, evaluate program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions to continuously improve the quality of the music and performing arts program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Performing Arts, or related field
-(Master's degree preferred) Valid teaching certification/license in music education or performing arts (preferred)
-Proven experience in music education, with a focus on elementary education
-Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate educators, students, and stakeholders
- Excellent organizational and administrative abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in music education and performing arts
-Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, with the ability to create an inclusive learning environment that respects and celebrates cultural differences
-Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate and advocate for the value of music and the performing arts in education
