The Hermitage Hotel, a Historic Landmark is searching for an experienced Catering and Events Manager who is committed to enhancing our strong foundation of success.
Scope of Position
Responsible and accountable for booking catering events, providing information and direction to all related departments, i.e., Banquets, Banquet Housepersons, Banquet Chefs, Stewarding, Accounting, and A/V
Organizational Structure
The Catering and Events Manager - will report directly to the Director of Sales & Catering
Duties and Supporting Responsibilities
§ Handles inquiries generated through the Catering office of solicitations and finalizes said events entirely.
§ Conducts outside solicitation calls with appropriate paperwork and follow-up.
§ Establishes and/or maintains thorough files for each booking.
§ Reviews function space blocked for correct time and space allocations, maximizing revenues.
§ Provides guests with menus and all other pertinent information to assist in planning functions, up-selling at all times and planning special menus as appropriate.
§ Completes, distributes and interprets Banquet Event Orders
§ Utilizes proper accounting and credit procedures.
§ While group is in the hotel, meets and greets guests and executives; reviews all arrangements with each department.
§ Reviews all bills prior to mailing.
§ Attends menu readings to review upcoming events with appropriate staff.
§ Attends weekly staff meeting to review the next ten days’ events.
§ Attends the weekly Sales Department meetings when necessary.
§ Updates/creates the forecast for the month three times weekly
§ Works in conjunction with Operations to order china, silver and glassware in addition to other equipment.
§ Responsible for all banquet menu creation in conjunction with the Chef.
§ Act as liason between The Hermitage Hotel and the community to create future business.
§ May be assigned other tasks or responsibilities as required or directed.
Requirements
§ SKILLS: Excellent communication and computer skills necessary. Demonstrated knowledge/experience in advertising and promotions activities.
§ LEADERSHIP STYLE: Must be goal oriented. Should have a very even disposition, able to handle stress effectively, and must be a good motivator. Also, should be detail-oriented and very organized.
§ PHYSICAL: Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
§ SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a minimum of two years catering sales experience, preferably in a luxury hotel.
Mandatory
§ KNOWLEDGE: Previous Banquet and Catering experience
§ EXPERIENCE: Previous Sales experience a plus.
Desirable
Have flexibility to work different shifts. Frequent interruptions may occur. Maintain a clean cut and professional appearance.
