In 2018, PAVE and POST (Parent Operator Selection Team) did an extensive national search and after conducting a rigorous selection process, chose LEARN D.C. to serve the unique needs of both Ward 8 and military families. LEARN D.C. is open to ALL students in the District. LEARN D.C. is an affiliate of LEARN’s school network of 10 PK-8th grade college preparatory elementary schools, based in the Chicagoland area, whose mission is to create measurable, transformational change in the lives of its scholars.

The Primary Classroom Teacher will be responsible for daily operations for his or her classroom, providing high quality instruction to all students and leading the tone of the classroom culture and tone.
Responsibilities
As a Primary Classroom Teacher, your critical tasks will include:
- Effectively implementing instructional programs and strategic interventions that drive results.
- Executing instructional activities that follow curricular guidelines and frameworks.
- Understanding how to use data to improve instruction and student achievement.
- Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of students with various academic and social needs.
- Providing a positive learning environment that promotes thinking and ensuring a supportive and community-based classroom environment.
- Demonstrating effective classroom management skills that contribute to a positive learning environment.
Additional tasks may include:
- Collaborating with peers to enhance the instructional environment and meet school-wide goals.
- Maintaining a professional working relationship with parents.
· Cultivating and maintaining ongoing relationships with student’s families, staff, and other members of the school community.
· Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
Required Qualifications
Education, Training and/or Experience
This position is a great fit if:
- You have at least 1 year of teaching experience (ideally 3+ preferred).
- You have a demonstrated track record of delivering gains in student academic achievement.
- You have a record of living LEARN’s Core Values.
- You provide strong classroom management.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
To succeed as a Primary Classroom Teacher, you demonstrate our core values by setting high expectations for yourself and our scholars, along with bringing a high level of energy and consistently positive attitude. You are proficient with Microsoft Office and Google applications, databases, and intranet and internet usage. You possess strong written and verbal skills, and the ability to express yourself effectively and concisely.
In addition, you have experience in development and implementation procedures, as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.
Above all, you are an adaptive, creative educator who is comfortable interacting with students and families. You demonstrate professional demeanor with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment, plus the capacity to tactfully and effectively deal with families, students and staff in a personable and professional manner.
