Article Student Living is hiring a Director of Communication to join our Student Housing team. The Director of Communications oversees developing strategic communications programs to build and protect Article Student Living's brand reputation and engage and educate employees. You will be responsible for Article's internal and external communications. Responsibilities range from supporting reputational and marketing campaigns to public relations, issues management, employee events and engagement, and executive communications.

You will interact with senior leadership, provide strategic counsel on essential issues and organizational positioning, and be a driver supporting company culture. The director will also be a necessary external spokesperson with experience working with the media. You will collaborate with Article's marketing and HR teams and other departments to build integrated plans and ensure understanding. The Director of Communications will analyze and use consumer and market insights to direct strategic programs and decisions and possess the ability to counsel senior leaders.
You will report to the Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications.
You will work on-site at our Fulton Market location, 3-5 days per week.
You will travel occasionally, 10% - 20%.
Your Mission
- Lead development of integrated communications programs to build corporate and property brands with diverse partner groups through activations, paid media, sponsorships, direct communications, digital, and earned media
- Oversee all aspects of employee engagement, including the production of employee and meaningful manager experiences, the writing and editing of executive communications, employee campaigns, and regular employee communications
- Lead management of relationships with creative and strategic communications agencies and vendors. Oversee associated budgets and use analytics to ensure Return on investment
- Collaborate with marketing, HR, corporate, and operating teams to align activities and ensure brand compliance
- Oversee the social responsibility pillar to align with the company mission, vision, and values
Your Track Record
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business, or Public Relations or related field
- 8+ years working in strategic communications and brand reputation management
- Experience working across channels, both internal and external, with content development and writing experience
- Expertise in assuming a spokesperson role representing an organization's position
- Comfort and experience interacting and influencing C-Suite leaders
- Accommodate colleagues across multiple time zones
- Experience managing talent
