Pass criminal background check (BCI).
Help all residents with ADLs (activities of daily living) for which they need assistance, such as bathing, combing hair, brushing teeth, shaving, putting on socks and shoes, dressing, ambulation, changing briefs, incontinence care, toileting, transfers, oral care, nail care, all aspects of hygiene, and any other ADL that will assist our residents.
Taking and recording vitals (blood-pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, and respiration). We will take resident vital signs every morning and PRN.
CNA/Caregiver staff will assist with self administer of medications to residents by following all the appropriate medication administration guidelines. Any questions regarding medications will be asked of the facility nurse, or the medication aide. Only trained staff members are permitted to assist with medications. Medication assistance will be delegated only after competency has been demonstrated to the facility nurse, home manager, or assistant home manager.
Help residents with equipment for their treatments, such as: anti-embolism stocking (TED hose), set up nebulizer, blood sugar check, emptying foley catheter bag, changing ostomy bags, and any other treatment that can be done in the assisted living home setting, following the rules set forth by the state and local jurisdictions.
Every employee is responsible for infection control. Since CNA/Caregiver’s are in constant contact with our residents, it is critical that they wash their hands often, use gloves and use hand sanitizer.
Timely and precise communication is a key element in avoiding errors in resident treatment and care. The CNA/Caregiver will document, in observation, and in reporting, both to the manager or assistant manager as well as to one's replacement at shift change. All resident care will be documented in BlueStep. Bluestep trainig will be provided.
Ensuring that the resident is comfortable and ensuring they receive the proper care. This includes such tasks as keeping the bed dry and comfortable, ensuring the resident has a call mechanism within reach; asking them if there is anything they need, whether they are too cool or too warm, and assessing the resident’s privacy needs, tending to them in the appropriate manner, etc.
All CNA/Caregiver staff are required to assist with other areas of work in the home. These tasks include laundry, washing dishes, housekeeping duties, leading an activity, meal preparation, and any other duty asked of you by administration, supervisor, or management that has to do with the direct care of the residents’ environment.
CNA/Caregiver staff will perform all duties as assigned by BlueStep. Each CNA/Caregiver will be assigned to specific residents every shift and are responsible for all BlueStep documentation of MARs and ADLs for those residents.
