The Executive Director of Relationship Development is primarily responsible for driving the strategic direction and expansion of the Development program and marketing strategies that effectively resource the mission and ministry of Children’s Hunger Fund. The Executive Director will focus on expanding CHF’s donor base and creating funding opportunities through strategies and programs as well as opportunities directed through CHF Development Officers (that serve as the primary fundraisers for the organization to identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships at assigned fundraising levels.) The Executive Director will ensure the effective promotion and expansion of CHF’s brand in all its communication forms (print/video/web/social media) and public relations opportunities including promotion of CHF programs [Project Food Pak (PFP), Project Coin Pak (PCP), Mobile Food Pak (MFP), National Food Pak (NFP), Virtual Food Pak (VFP), Poverty Encounter, etc.] The Executive Director will enhance CHF’s donor customer service through oversight of the Donor Care department. They will be knowledgeable of CHF activities, conferences, and events and ensure timely and effective internal and external communications associated with them.
EXECUTIVE OVERSIGHT:
- Develop and implement an effective marketing plan for the organization
- Develop and implement training for the team of Development Officers to maximize performance and growth
- Maintain and grow an MGO (Major Gift Officer) portfolio of donors
- Lead and develop the Communications & Marketing and Donor Care departments
- Act as a key fundraiser for CHF: Consistently represent CHF with donors, outside vendors, fundraising events, speaking opportunities, small groups, and individuals

REPORTS TO: The Executive Director of Relationship Development reports directly to the President and Founder.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee direct reports in setting and executing annual vision, direction, and plans in alignment with CHF’s Advancement Strategy and annual Vision Plan.
- Maintain and grow an MGO (Major Gift Officer) portfolio of donors through donor acquisition and high-level donor relationship management, contributing to funding a portion of the annual operating budget.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan to advance CHF’s brand identity, broaden awareness of its founder, ministry programs and priorities, and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences, in alignment with CHF’s mission, distinctives, values and statement of faith resulting in robust, unrestricted fundraising growth.
- Develop and implement an effective Development program through clear strategic direction and consistent engagement that results in broad-based donor support and fundraising growth.
- Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with Leadership Team and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.
- Ensure the effective development and marketing of all CHF print and video communications with impactful integration of images and text, including but not limited to the annual report, marketing collateral materials and electronic communications, website, social media, and any new media; ensure strong and reliable relationships with associated vendors. Effectively prioritize projects and allocation of internal resources and budgets.
- Ensure development and implementation of a standard organizational media response procedure. Serve as a lead spokesperson on media interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization; coach others in the organization for media interaction and promotion of CHF.
- Lead, develop, and implement the fundraising campaigns in coordination with the Office of the President on the implementation of CHF’s programs, President’s events, and major donor fundraising strategies.
- Analyze and report on donor trends, demographics, and return on investment for CHF programs, marketing, and fundraising projects to improve the effectiveness of and set the priorities for the department.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve a volunteer and Poverty Encounter marketing strategy that moves one-time guests from awareness to advocates for CHF, including targeted communication, recognition programs, fundraisers, etc.
- Exercise highly effective time management and good stewardship consistently in leadership, management, and supervision of people and resources.
- Travel regularly to CHF locations (Dallas, Los Angeles, San Antonio), donor events, staff events, donor meetings, and other applicable events, meetings, and conferences.
- Participate in (and contribute to) meetings as appropriate including weekly all-staff meetings, Leadership Team meetings, Executive Team meetings, and planning and budget meetings.
- Participate in (and contribute to) CHF events including: Volunteer Workdays and other special events such as banquets, receptions, as needed and/or assigned.
SUPERVISORY & LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead by example: demonstrate CHF’s mission, values, and distinctives in execution of responsibilities.
- Follow and support CHF policies and procedures; contribute to required meetings and events.
- Develop, coach, and encourage assigned employees for current and future success.
- Oversee employee responsibilities in accordance with CHF guidelines, including staffing, goal and performance management, and compensation review.
- Recruit and manage team members to support the development and execution of the marketing, communications, and donor care strategy.
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
- Develop and oversee department budget, as approved by the Executive Team.
- The Communications & Marketing and Donor Care departments work out of HQ in Los Angeles.
- Development Officers are located at each CHF facility (Dallas, Los Angeles, San Antonio, etc.,).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
- Confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; active member of a gospel-centered, Christian local church; demonstrates ongoing growth in Christian maturity
- 10 years of experience in Development, Marketing, Fundraising, or closely related business, leadership, and ministry experience
- Master’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and work experience
- Demonstrated successful experience and leadership in developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive strategic communication, media relations, and marketing program that advances and achieves an organization's mission and goals, with a proven track record of translating strategic initiatives into effective tactical plans and output
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within and outside CHF, and to speak publicly and professionally on behalf of CHF, communicating clearly about CHF’s mission, distinctives and ministry
- Insightful with the ability to ask probing questions that draw out key details needed to prioritize and drive decision-making
- Ability to accurately gather, analyze, and present business data in a clear, sound methodology and a professional manner
- Proven decision making, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to independently construct, communicate, and implement effective people or program-oriented solutions in a changing environment while addressing current and future needs and impact, exercising a high degree of discernment to judge when to obtain additional input, counsel, and support
