Job Title: Sales Associate

Location: Bering’s Home Center – Westheimer or Bissonnet
Reports to: Housewares/Gourmet Manager & Store Manager
Job Type/Classification: Full-time & Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and active listening skills that allows for great customer service and team communication
- Documented experience in Housewares sales is preferred
- Basic computer and math skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Must be able to work under pressure, be able to multi-task, and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude along with exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, standard routines and accepted policies
- Dependability & flexibility are a must; weekend availability is required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A Sales Associate in the Housewares/Gourmet department is empowered to create an amazing and personal shopping event for all customers by providing the unparalleled customer service experience that Bering’s is well-known for. Additionally, a sales associate, working alongside the department team, will participate in creating and maintaining an exciting and shoppable sales floor to display merchandise both properly and effectively.
- Greets and initiates conversations with all customers; maintains a welcoming presence as well an inviting and upbeat atmosphere
- Develop and cultivate relationships with all Housewares/Gourmet customers by learning their needs and preferences
- Participates in inventory counts and product replenishment within department
- Be a self-starter, be observant and act on the needs of the department
- Actively participate in inventory restock
Physical:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout retail space
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds at a time and move fixtures on sales floor; be able to use a ladder, step stool and have the ability to push a flatbed cart
