Job Overview:
The Ruffin Ridley Extended Day Program is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Director. The Assistant Director, will work closely with the Executive Director to oversee the daily operations of our organization. This is a leadership role that requires strong management skills and a passion to help children and staff succeed in an out of school setting.
Responsibilities:
● Develop and oversee program curriculum and operations; identify and implement new curriculum ideas.
● Evaluate curriculum on an ongoing basis; recommend and implement changes.
● Supervise teaching staff regarding program and curriculum implementation; work with staff to develop their ability to meet curriculum standards and achieve program goals.
● Regularly participate in program activity with the intention of supporting staff, modeling best practices, and/or informally observing.
● Participate in the teacher hiring process; conduct interviews with the Executive Director.
● Conduct performance evaluations for teaching staff. Submit evaluations to the Executive Director for discussion and review, and for final approval.
● Manage time off requests with the Executive Director, call in substitute teachers, and provide time off information for payroll purposes.
● Plan staff meetings in conjunction with the Executive Director.
● Track student tardiness and attendance; locate missing children.
● Work with teachers to write student progress reports; submit to Executive Director for discussion and review.
● Coordinate parent conferences.
● Meet with school administration and teaching staff as needed.
● Plan and coordinate field trips and special events for early release days, holiday, and vacation care.
● Provide input on programmatic, policy and facilities issues.
● Recommend revisions to program manuals and update Teacher’s Manual as needed.
● Inform Executive Director about staff payroll adjustments.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years old and have one of the following: a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Recreation, Physical Education or other related fields outlined in EEC regulations, accompanied by 5 years of experience working with school age children or equivalent experience,
A minimum of 3 years of employee supervisory experience.
Ability to pass the required background and fingerprint requirements.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement age-appropriate curriculum within program physical and budgetary parameters.
Knowledge of EEC regulations for School Age programs
