As MASA’s new Associate Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to contract law and compliance with insurance regulations across the United States and other countries.

What You Will Do
Reporting to our Senior Counsel, your main responsibilities will include:
- Contract Review and Management: Evaluate, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents in compliance with U.S. and international contract law.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of insurance regulations and legislation in different states, ensuring that MASA’s marketing materials and practices align with these regulations.
- Risk Management: Collaborate closely with business units to provide practical and actionable legal guidance while considering risk tolerance, and proactively identifying potential legal risks and providing solutions.
- Business Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various departments within the organization, serving as a legal partner to the business by understanding its goals and challenges.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support decision-making and provide clear, concise legal advice to internal stakeholders.
- General Counsel Support: Support the General Counsel on various legal matters and initiatives as needed.
What We Need From You
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in a State Bar and eligibility for Florida Bar in-house admission.
- 3+ years of experience as an in-house attorney with an insurer, healthcare provider, or third-party payer. Deep knowledge of U.S. contract law and significant contracting experience. Familiar with broker agreements, general agency agreements, group benefits agreements, provider contracts, etc.
- Knowledge of insurance regulations and international laws relating to U.S. companies transacting business abroad is highly preferable.
- Experience in compliance training is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to occasionally work from the office in South Florida as required.
- Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
- Proven track record of collaborating with business stakeholders as a legal partner.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
