Job Summary/Description:
As directed by the Foreman or Field Lead, the Journeyman is responsible for performing installations and helping direct Apprentices on daily construction activity. He/she performs necessary electrical work in accordance with plans and specifications. Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and or/repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry. He/she is able to terminate cable and conductors, install and trouble shoot motor control wiring drawings and demonstrate experience which exceeds apprentice level. The Journeyman will also maintain a level of safety on the project that ensures adherence and compliance to the LEI Health and Safety Manual as well as all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (Other Duties May Be Assigned to Meet Business Needs):
- Review contract documents, plans, specifications and addenda
- Review and understand the General Contractor’s schedule and assist Foreman/Field Lead to execute work accordingly
- Assist Foreman/Field Lead in layout of project and assist and direct Apprentice Electricians accordingly
- Execution of electrical installations in compliance with the National Electrical Code and the local authority having jurisdiction
- Perform all electrical work in accordance with the requirements of NFPA 70E and LEI Safety Manual
- Inspect each tool for safety issues or concerns at every use
- Notify Foreman/Field Lead of material needed in a timely manner to ensure adherence to material ordering procedures
- Notify Field Supervisor of materials needed to complete tasks
- Attend weekly safety meetings in accordance with the Health and Safety Manual
- Assist in maintaining and keeping current all As-Built drawings as required by the specifications
- Execute all punch list activities as directed by the Field Supervisor in a timely and workmanlike
- Attend required trainings and meetings, perform general maintenance and inspections, assemble electrical components, and perform inventory
- Set forth safe work practices in accordance with LEI’s Health and Safety Program and the site-specific safety plan

- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead
- Lifting up to one hundred and fifty (150) pounds with help as required
- Carry tools and materials up to seventy (70) pounds
- Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities
- Must be able to wear required personal tools and belt at all times
- Must be able to work from all types of ladders, stepladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks or other safety work areas at any height
- Ability to work in confined areas, switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics and vaults
- Make transition from parking areas into construction work areas and gain access to all work areas by means of construction ladders or stairs

- Job requires working in inclement weather conditions, depending on job location and time of year
- Excessively loud construction environments
- Shall wear personal protective equipment (hard hats; sturdy, ankle high leather work boots with skid resistant sole; safety glasses; reflective vest or shirt and gloves) at all times; dust mask, earplugs and respirators when required
- Ability to follow special procedures including contamination control, noise control, building systems awareness and procedures (fire alarm, card access, temperature control)
Compensation:
Prevailing wage work may be available ($38.00 – $41.00+) where applicable
