About the Position:
Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is seeking an engaging and collaborative Learning Specialists at our Sunset Yards Elementary School Campus.
As an IEP Coordinator, you will work closely with subject area teachers to plan, execute, and improve dynamic lessons that are individualized so as to leverage student strengths and provide maximum results.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with our school Principal, Department Head, and subject teachers to support students with disabilities in the classroom
- Collaborate with co-teacher on modifying and differentiating lesson activities and assessments for individual groups of learners.
- Contribute to curriculum and unit planning for all relevant courses
- Track progress and create strategic plans and interventions to help students with disabilities and all students achieve individual learning goals.
- Serve as a case manager to a small group of students by monitoring progress, communicating with families, and writing IEPs.
Ensuring IEP compliance
Coordinate with DOE providers to ensure that high quality related service providers are retained and scheduled to meet student needs
Maintain systems to communicate the essential content of IEPs to the teaching faculty and to communicate updates throughout the year (Scoops and post-IEP emails)
Coordinate with the operations team to ensure that all students receive their required testing accommodations
Support case managers in creating transition goals for students aged 14+ (based on CM parent/student vocational interviews)
Case Manager Supervision
Related Service Provider and Paraprofessional Supervision
Coordination of all IEP meetings
Family Support and Communication
Respond to family inquiries in an accurate and timely manner, managing up to the CSE, principal, and Network Director of Student Supports, as needed.
Support advisors, homeroom teachers, and other parties through conversations with families about possible referral for evaluation.
For any student with Parent Counseling and Training as a related service, the IEP Coordinator will own, with support from the Network Director, creation and implementation of a plan to support the family, and meet as mandated by the IEP to enact training.
Maintenance of internal documents
Maintain an accurate IEP list to ensure that student schedules and testing arrangements align to the program outlined in their IEP or 504 plans
[MS/HS] Supervise the updating of “student scoops” as annual reviews take place
Ensure that IEPs are finalized in a timely fashion, so that the faculty have up-to-date information about the students they serve
Support Heads of SSS/Department Heads in the completion of FBAs and BIPs, as appropriate
Billing and budgeting
Academic & Behavioral RTI
Perform and document FBA/BIPs when assigned by SSS DH/Head
Collaborate with School Counselors and SSS Dept. Head to develop academic and behavioral Tier 2 support plans that are aligned to students’ IEPs
Related Service Provider and Paraprofessional Management
Ensure students are receiving the appropriate related services
Work with the related service providers, including para professionals to build schedules that meet mandates on students’ IEP requirements
Complete all paperwork and documentation related to seeking service providers, and signing off on time sheets
504 Plan Coordination
Use the 504 plan procedures (or other school-based protocol) to convene meetings to determine eligibility for and contents of 504 plans for students, based on family requests for accommodations and all necessary documentation.
Communicate 504 plans to all stakeholders, including grade team and service providers. Provide training, as needed.
Maintain systems that allow for updates and renewals to 504 plans to take place in the spring for returning students.

Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in education strongly preferred
- NYS teaching certification strongly preferred

Salary:
- Employees at Prospect Schools are provided with a competitive salary. Our salaries are set through a lens of equity, and based on an individual’s skills, education, and years of experience relevant to the role. The salary range for this role is from $61,500-$102,880
, based on experience.
