Job description
Experience in the fine art of wood working building finished desks and other specials for the school furniture industry. Working with pressure laminates, veneer, solid surfaces, TFL
1) Review production list daily with Plant Manager to prioritize work schedule.
2) Produce or assemble custom products including tables, cabinets and desks reflecting detailed workmanship upon completion.
3) Verify dimensions or check the quality or fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications.
4) Match materials for color, grain or texture, giving attention to knots or other features of the wood.
5) Establish the specifications of products to be constructed or repaired and develop the method of operations for shaping or assembling parts, based on blueprints, drawings, diagrams or oral or written instructions.
6) Set up or operate table saws, chop miter saw, hand routers, boring machine, panel saws or other wood working tools to cut and shape wood stock.
7) Measure and mark dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock prior to cutting, following blueprints, to ensure a tight fit and quality product.
8) May make jigs to attach parts or subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws or clamps.
9) Makes adjustments on component parts to ensure proper form, fit, function and dimension. Seeks assistance from Engineering, CNC Programming and Plant Manager for major assembly issues.
10) Trim, sand or scrape surfaces or joints to prepare articles for finishing.
11) Assists in the direction and training of new employees in the assembly/cabinetmaking department.
12) Works closely with Engineering to develop proper assembly procedures for new or modified products.
13) May be involved in field installations.
14) Follows safety rules and safe work habits.
15) Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
Must have's:
