General Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The District Treasurer of the Exeter-West Greenwich Regional School District reports to the Superintendent of Schools and the Director of Administration and is responsible for the maintenance of the financial records of the school district.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Establish and maintain an accounting system for all funds in the school district, including the General Fund, the Student Activity Fund, the Building and Capital Project Funds, the Nutrition Fund and all state and federal grant projects.
- Collect, record, and deposit all district funds and income, including:
- Sending bills to the towns in a timely manner.
- Establishing a billing and collection system for tuition students, rentals, retiree’s health and life benefits.
- Cash Management, including Cash flow management, analysis and projection.
- Maintain all payroll records and documents that are required by the district and/or the state and federal government, including:
- All federal and state tax withholding information.
- All reports/information required by the state retirement system.
- All reports required by the state and federal government.
- Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
- Preparation of monthly budget summary reports as well as a listing of bills to be approved by the School Committee at its regularly scheduled meetings
- Maintain all records for employee health and life insurance, retirement, and all other payroll deductions
- Maintain records for all state and federal grant funds, reporting the expenditure of such funds to the appropriate agencies via quarterly reports and meetings with the contact persons of these grants to review fiscal activities.
- Assist the Superintendent of Schools with the annual budget building process
- Supervision and training of Treasurer’s Assistant ~ AP/AR and Treasurer’s Assistant ~ Payroll
- Performs all other duties as directed by the Superintendent of Schools and/or Director of Administration

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or accounting required.
- Proven experience in budgeting, technical accounting, and financial management
- Proficiency in financial software
Nice-to-Have Skills:
-Education or experience in database management preferred.
- Experience in cash management and investment strategies
- Knowledge of financial risk management practices
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards
- CPA certification is a plus
