Remote Work: Primarily on-site work
Purpose:
Ensures implementation and maintenance of best practice for production planning, production scheduling, inventory control, warehousing, shipping, receiving, and stores. Champion of Lean and Continuous Improvement processes as they relate to Materials Management.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for a safe operation and protection of all facility assets. Develop and maintain departmental safety rules and enforce safe work practices; conduct appropriate safety training.
- Responsible for ensuring the Ethics/Code of Conduct, Quality, Environmental, and Safety policies are understood and complied with across the Materials area. Ensure compliance with NSG C-TPAT procedures and IATF standards and customer requirements.
- Pro-actively manage actions and projects to minimize all Supply Chain costs and prepare regular updates (SCOP). Responsible for development of targets, budgets, and metrics for materials activities. Monitor results against targets and implement activities to ensure the budget objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner. Ensures direct reports understand their respective roles as they relate to performance metrics and budgeted performance in all areas.
- Develops systems whereby excellent interpersonal relationships are maintained both within and outside the group. Communicate with the teams across all shifts to ensure an understanding of company goals and improve morale among the team members.
- Responsible for auditing: materials processes against objectives/budget/planning, quality/customer requirements, safety systems, and productivity improvement.
- Evaluates performance and recommends personnel actions related to team and individual objectives. Establishes any human resource requirements in the short, medium, and long term. Defines training plans to achieve objectives. Develops skills and experience of the plant Materials personnel.
- Together with the other Group Leaders, evaluates future equipment upgrades, plant capacity planning and capital investment requirements. Active member of the plant leadership team to assure annual budgets are achieved, plant performance is continually improved, and customer expectations are achieved.
- Recommend changes in basic structure and organization of the materials group to ensure the effective fulfillment of objectives utilizing ILWO / Manufacturing Excellence Methodology. Maintain structure to provide the flexibility to move swiftly in relation to supply chain problems and opportunities.
- Prepare sales and operating plans (S&OP) for rolling 18 months to ensure all sales forecasts can be met with balanced shifts and minimum stocks.
- Plan for and communicate anticipated changes in inventory levels due to customer changes, seasonal fluctuations, and/or product transfers. Ensure that detailed operating plans and schedules conform to releases to ensure 100% on-time delivery for OE and service.
- Coordinate the plant’s annual physical inventory. Coordinate weekly cycle count activities to ensure inventory accuracy/accountability. Minimize part obsolescence, coordinate the sale of surplus materials and/or scrap; provide required documentation for same. Maintain all inventories within budget level and coordinate actions to continuously minimize levels.

Scope/Dimensions:
- Management oversight of single site manufacturing and delivery facility with over 10 advanced manufacturing production cells and wide variety of domestic and international customers (Tier 1 and Tier 2 Automotive OE).
- Recommend, review, and control labor (headcount) and overhead budgets
- Prime expense/purchase authorization related to production customer specific requirements, capital expenditure recommendations, logistics, quality, and safety expense authorization.
- Supervision and oversight of human resources and time and attendance systems.
- Frequent interaction with customer and vendor representatives, senior management, and peers/subordinates at other company locations.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors Degree in management or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in a materials / supply chain function. Prior experience in supply chain function within Tier 1 Automotive Supplier.
- Minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in related leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to work with Staff colleagues and Customers in a professional manner.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and individuals.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Financial acuity in working with annual budgets
- Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Demonstrated skills to continually improve the process, product and skills of the organization
- Strong PC computer skills (Microsoft office, MRP systems, and data analysis).
- 6σ (Six Sigma) or other Lean Manufacturing Certification – Greenbelt or above
Qualifications Desired:
- Master’s Degree (MBA or equivalent)
- SAP (HANA) experience and/or migration of MRP to SAP platform
- Prior experience with Japanese OE Customers
Other Requirements:
- Relies on experience and understanding of materials / supply chain processes and written customer requirements to determine proper actions.
- Key relationships with internal leadership team, supplier teams, and customer team to ensure successful and mutual concern resolution.
- Demands and priorities need adjusted regularly to provide a high level of service under tight timelines to several customers-internally or externally.
9 hour work day is standard but this role requires availability a wide variety of hours/days. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Physical Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the associate frequently works around moving machines/parts in an industrial environment. The associate occasionally works around industrial chemicals. The associate occasionally must travel by commercial means or private transport. Regular and predictable attendance at the manufacturing plant is required.
