POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a non-exempt position that is responsible for the onsite residential support for the daily management of a quality milieu for residents at a residential addiction recovery treatment facility. This position is to provide a portion of mandatory 24 hour awake coverage, customer service, and residential supervision. The Incumbent in this position demonstrates sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics, which includes indigent co-occurring consumers. This position ensures that residents follow program procedures and provide an example of support, respect effective communication and positive social interaction. Incumbent ensures that program protocols are upheld in accordance with the Council on Accreditation (COA), Department of Children and Families (DCF), Catholic Charities, and South Florida Behavioral Health Network, Inc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision:
- Ensure all residents understand program procedures and adheres to them.
- Provide supervision to peer led groups and to consumers during recreational time.
- Document all inappropriate behaviors and activity in the daily log.
- Monitor cameras at all times while at front desk.
- Monitor rooms daily throughout the day to determine safety and security of consumers.
- Ensure that consumers are at scheduled groups.
- Report all unusual incidents to supervisor and program director.
- Report all emergencies requiring police, fire or medical to 911.
- Conduct search of consumer’s property and rooms.
- Ensure no contraband enters the facility.
- Conduct self in a manner that is an example of positive social interaction, appropriate boundaries, and effective communication.
- Conduct breathalyzer test on consumers during re-entry and assist with obtaining urine samples from consumers.
Reception Services:
- Provide consumers with toiletries and cleaning supplies from inventory when necessary.
- Ensure all consumer logs and documents are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Provide customer service to visitors and consumers.
- Answer telephones and direct calls to the appropriate employee.
- Acts as liaison between consumers and administration.
- Ensure that all visitors and consumers sign in and out.
Medication:
- Work in collaboration and under the supervision of the program nurse in the disbursement and documentation of medications to consumers.
- Adhere to the program’s medication administration policy and procedure.
- Provide consumers with their medication so that the consumer may self-administer their medication.
- Complete Medication Administration Record for all over the counter and prescribed medication.
Food Handling:
- Ensures meals delivered are accurate and complete based on approved menu.
- Examines food items for freshness, quality, and temperatures.
- Refuses all items that do not meet established guidelines.
- Store meals in food warmers and/or refrigerator at designated temperature.
- Communicates with delivery personnel and subsequently caterer when orders are incomplete.
- Cleans and sanitizes all dinnerware, pots/pans, and any other utensils or equipment used in meal preparation and service according to regulatory guidelines.
- Ensures the kitchen area is clean at all times.
- Responsible for proper storage of food items and food supplies. Adheres to FIFO system (First in First Out) with respect to storage of Food items to ensure freshness.
- Planning and execution of food distribution in a timely manner to meet set meal-time schedule.
- Daily documents number of meals served.
- Daily check refrigerator temperature and document in log.
- Monitor and document PH level in log.
Risk Management and Quality Assurance:
- Performs PQI functions as assigned by Supervisor.
- Participates monthly in the fire drill
- Timely and accurately submit Unusual Incident Reports and include all relevant documentation required by regulatory bodies.
Additional Duties:
- Complies with all required trainings as per COA standards, funding, and licensing requirements.
- Complies with all policies, procedures and requirements necessary to perform the functions of this position.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by supervisors.
Physical Demands:
- Work is usually sedentary, but may require long periods of standing, walking and /or bending and some light lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to detect unsafe situations by sight or sound and react quickly to intervene.
Educational & Experiential Requirements:
- One year of related experience
- Active CPR certificate preferred or obtained within 60 days of hire
- Safe Serve Certification preferred or obtained within 30 days of hire.
