Job Description:
Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance duties to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment; and performs related work as required. Maintains the mission and vision of the district.
Illustrative Duties:
· Schedules, coordinates, directs and performs routine and comprehensive custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
· Performs general cleaning such as: stripping floors, buffing, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, cleans windows, walls, drinking fountains, restrooms.
· Cleans and disinfects restrooms, classrooms, health facility, and other assigned facilities; orders and stocks facilities with paper and supplies.
· Reports and responds to emergency calls for custodial assistance.
· Removes trash in accordance with established procedures.
· Responds to service requests, coordinates resources and implements the setup and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of campus events.
· Performs various maintenance and custodial duties such as installation and repair of fixtures in restrooms and classrooms.
· Troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problem, replaces a variety of light bulbs and lighting accessories.
· Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies.
· Performs preventative maintenance in and around facilities.
· Oversees the security of the school at the end of each work day.
· Operates power equipment such as pressure washer, hand and power tools, and campus vehicles.
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
· Job related experience.
· Experience in an elementary or middle school preferred.
Education Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· One year of work experience is equivalent to one year of college requirements.
Other Requirements:
· Maintains good attendance.
Other Requirements (continued):
· Ability to work with pesticides; safely dispose of hazardous materials; identify stains and use proper chemicals for their removal.
· Ability to operate manual and power equipment.
· Ability to perform physical labor.
· Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
· Exhibits great listening and communication skills.
· Is a self-starter and pays attention to detail.
· Possesses great integrity and is looked upon as a leader.
· Is reliable, punctual, and possesses great time management details (i.e. meets deadlines regularly).
· Exhibits the willingness and flexibility to accept change.
· Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard. Must possess a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
· Ability to travel throughout the district and city by means of private or public transportation. If driving personal (or private) vehicle, must possess a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage.
