CHEMICALS, INC COMMERCIAL DRIVER with Tanker Endorsement

Job Summary: Transport materials in a safe and efficient manner to and from various locations ensuring compliance with State and Federal DOT/ICC regulations.

Essential Functions:
* Ensure compliance with State and Federal DOT/ICC regulations at all times
* Visually inspect vehicle before and following road trips to ensure vehicle is free from
mechanical defects
* Report any known defects, suspicion of defects, or damage of the vehicle immediately
to the Plant/Traffic Manager
* Ensure load is properly secured and has appropriate placards
* Review Bill of Lading/Manifest and associated paperwork prior to departure to ensure
product load requirements meet the exact requirements against the paperwork when picking
up or delivery product
* Ensure compliance with any other provided documentation pertaining to customer and/or
supplier specific/special instructions
* When delivering shipments, obtain proper signature from customer or supplier as verification
of receipt of proper product
* Identify and immediately report any errors or problems with delivery and/or pick-up of
products
* Identify most efficient and direct route to customers and/or suppliers; immediately
report any required deviations that may delay pick-up or delivery
* Follow written work and/or safety procedures at all times, as applicable
Minor Functions:
* Occasionally perform non-routine maintenance yard and facility work
* Occasionally load and unload empty containers
* Occasionally perform container preparation, as directed
* Occasionally assist in drum filling, and labeling of drums
* Occasionally assist on dock, as needed (accepting deliveries and issuing pick-ups)
Job Description Commercial Driver
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
* High school and/or GED equivalent
* Minimum 2-3 years over the road experience; or LTL distribution experience
* Knowledgeble with DOT Hazardous Materials regulations relating to compatibility of
chemicals in storage and shipping; shipping documents, placards, package markings and use of Emergency Response Guidebook
* Experienced in utilizing various types of material handling equipment
* Minimum, valid CDL Driver’s License with HazMat Endorsement required
* Valid CDL Driver’s License with HazMat and Tanker Endorsement, preferred
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70-100 pounds. The employee may experience long periods of time sitting with constant vibrating/jarring motion associated with vehicle operation. Employee must have agility to be able to freely step up and down into the cab of the vehicle on a regular basis. While mechanical equipment may be available to assist in loading and unloading of product, employee must be able to load and unload cargo manually where such equipment is not provided. If unable to manually move and/or lift load, employee needs to seek assistance at specified destinations. Specific vision abilities may require close vision and ability to frequently adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; may vary pending highway conditions and level of traffic.
Some products may contain hazardous materials; employee must comply with safety and DOT regulations during transportation and handling of materials. Ensure compatibility of chemicals, shipping papers and placards are visible for easy inspection and quick response in case of an emergency.
