Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable and organized Class A or B mobile crane operators responsible for operating a traveling crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads using controls, buttons, and levers. The perfect candidate is someone who possesses a great deal of physical and mental stamina who thrives working long hours on the road and can consistently ensure safe and accurate deliveries. Must be detail-oriented, efficient, and have a clean driving record.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned crane truck
· Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
· Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.
· Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit
· Drive crane to clients facility and work sites and properly set up per the manufacturer’s operators manual and company rules
· Operate crane according to signals from site supervisor or technicians
· Perform routine maintenance – clean, lubricate, and maintain the moving parts of a crane such as cables, pulley or grappling mechanism
· Transport client goods from the place or origin to assigned destination
· Pick-up loads and organizes goods in an ordered, logical manner
· Ensure contents are properly secured on the truck to prevent breakage or damage
· Safely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinations
· Communicate with Operations and/or logistics as needed
· Confirm contents of each load matches the Bill of Lading (BOL)
· Properly fill out Waybills in accordance to Bill of Lading (BOL)
· Perform inspection of your vehicle prior to and following each trip
· Check weather conditions and road reports before departure
· Always ensure your vehicle is kept clean
· Maintain and Service vehicle as needed
· Notify managers of any major maintenance of delivery issues encountered
· Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
· Adhere to company rules and regulations
· Comply with DOT federal laws and regulations
· Assists workers in loading and unloading truck
· Make safety a priority at all times
· Wear PPE safety equipment at all times when at the shop or on clients work site
· Other duties may be assigned
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
· Pipeline/oil field experience is not essential but is considered an asset
· Demonstrate initiative and ability to manage multiple work tasks and changing priorities
· Reasonable math skills for calculation of related subject like speed of travel, flow rates etc.
· Strong, effective, timely, clear, and concise verbal and written communication skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with logical though processes
· Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts with internal and external stakeholders
· Ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse groups of people
· Skilled at driving large vehicles
· Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
· Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
· Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
· An innate sense of direction
· Disciplined, dependable and resourceful
· High level of composure and good stress management
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
· Valid Class A driver’s license issued by accredited truck driving school an asset
· 2+ years proven experience with tractor-trailer driving preferred
· First aid experience an asset
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
· Valid Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record
· Possess or be able to obtain a DOT physical required
· Possess or be able to obtain Basic plus, Rigging 1 & 2 from accredited safety council
· Possess as many as practical or be able to qualify for training of all Operator Qualifications (OQ’s) deemed related to the assigned duties
· Possess or be able to qualify for Terminal Workers Identification Card (TWIC) for access to restricted work sites
· Possess or be able to obtain a passport
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Able to work in various temperature and climate conditions – willing and able to spend long days on foot over rugged, remote terrain in inclement weather
· On client facility the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
· Be available to travel for multiple days to remote locations (75%)
· Must be able to perform shift work working either night or day shifts, weekends, and often days of up to 14 hours. Work is often irregular with gaps of several days or potentially weeks between assignments
· Must remain alert at all time
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
