JOB SUMMARY:
The ASSISTANT CONTROLLER performs a variety of general accounting functions on an accurate and timely basis as established by the Controller. Responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and analyzing financial information. Assists in the preparation of financial reports. Maintains a financial reporting system to ensure the data from various departments are accurate and assists in creating new financial designs as needed. Coordinates functions with Managers of all other departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assists with monthly financial closing, including preparation of monthly financial statement package, and analyze balance sheet accounts for reasonableness to provide financial reports to departmental and corporate management.
2. Interface with internal departments to compile financial data to satisfy corporate reporting requirements.
3. Review monthly banking functions and cash reconciliations to ensure various balance sheet accounts accuracy.
4. Compile financial data for corporate tax reporting to comply with federal and state government requirements.
5. Posts journal entries to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
6. Prepares monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts for the Controllers review.
7. Provide supervision for Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable functions as needed.
8. Work closely with the accounting staff and other department groups on problems involving accounting systems and financial planning.
9. Assist with the annual physical inventory and the observation by outside auditors.
10. Assist in preparation of various annual audit schedules.
11. Maintain various databases in SQL and ACCESS.
12. Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed.
13. Assist with the development, review, and updating of accounting policies, procedures, checklists, and related documentation.
14. Maintain customer pricing and assist with annual price increase.
15. Assist in preparation of annual budget.
16. Prepare and submit any required governmental surveys, as required.

Lifting – Raising objects from a lower to a higher position.
Fingering – Working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm.
Grasping – Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Feeling- Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
Talking – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
Hearing- Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and making fine discrimination in sound.
Repetitive Motion- Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or
fingers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force
frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to have a close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BSBA degree in Accounting.
2. Knowledge of the full accounting cycle to supply the most accurate financial information.
3. Five to ten years of experience in an accounting department, preferably in the manufacturing field.
4. Experience with SAGE or other similar integrated ERP software.
5. Experience with standard costs and bills-of-material.
6. Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel (V-lookups, Pivot Tables, Nested IF statements) Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Excellent analytical, organizational and computer skills.
9. Ability to adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial, and employee matters.
10. Ability to be self-directed in a team-oriented environment.
