This is an entry-level technical position providing analytical support, wastewater treatment, and process solution maintenance in our metal finishing shop. This position supports our production department in providing high quality metal finishing services to our customers in a timely manner.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintenance and monitoring of the plant wastewater treatment system.
- Maintenance of various processing solutions including sampling, analysis, additions, and waste treatment.
- Equipment calibration and repair.
- Hazardous materials management including hazardous waste.
- Record keeping including database entry and auditing.
- Cleaning and general upkeep of laboratory, chemical storage, and other work areas.
- Perform other tasks in direct support of production departments.
Qualifications Include:
- Mathematical skills associated with chemical analysis.
- Basic mechanical skills of equipment installation, calibration, and troubleshooting Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Excel and Word.
- Abilities Ability to multitask & deal with changing priorities. Work independently and work well with team members and personnel in other departments.
- Able to maintain a good record of attendance and on-time arrival. Confidence working with hazardous materials. Physically able to lift and move heavy objects. We are looking for someone who we can hire, train and they will stay and grow.
- Educational or industrial laboratory experience required.
- Manufacturing environment experience desirable.
- A Bachelors Degree in Chemistry is strongly preferred.
Working conditions
The job requires a person to work primarily indoors, in a semi-controlled environment with duties split between laboratory work and shop floor work. The position will rotate between first and second shifts as well as rotation of work on Saturdays. Overtime work is available at times. You must be available to work occasionally on the weekends or on a rotating shift.
Physical requirements
All jobs are typically performed while standing. This job requires the occasional movement of chemical drums sometimes weighing as much as 800 lbs. using a drum dolly. You will be required to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
