Position Description – Electrician Foreman
We are recruiting a skilled and experienced Journeyman or Master Electrician to lead a crew on awarded federal contracts in the Washington DC metro area. This is a high-profile supervisory position that may include future contracts in the field of Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), leading the company into cutting edge trends in technology and developing specialized skills.
This position is an IBEW Union position; REON has partnered with IBEW to fast-track electricians into the local chapter. You will be expected to fill out a "Tradesman Information Form_Career Opportunities" to assess skills and qualifications for Union Onboarding.
As foreman, you will be expected to work independently, without continuous supervision. You will have responsibility for review and knowledge of the scope of work, contract drawings, and documents for the project you are overseeing. You must be able to think ahead to manage the schedule and workforce tasks and assignments. While interacting with the crew, clear and professional communication with dependable follow-up is critical to a successful project. Technical, logistical, contractual, and resource support will be provided from management, and will require a similar collaborative approach to effect its benefit. A teaming mindset is imperative.
These requirements or preferences identify you as an optimal candidate:
· Electrician License with minimum 10 years of experience as Journeyman or Master Electrician.
· Preferred EVITP certification and experience on EVSE projects.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role with responsibility for Safety and Quality Control (preferably on a government contract).
· Ability to obtain a clearance for badging and access on federal facilities.
Description of Duties:
· Perform site visits to assess existing conditions, customer requirements and critical project elements (such as security, scheduling, or accessibility issues, or when potential exposure to hazardous
materials or conditions require exceptional safety requirements).
· Assist in troubleshooting or developing design solutions on projects needing a defined scope of work or retrofitting options to meet customer requirements or budgetary limitations.
· Participate in developing proposals or cost estimates for electrical related work, that sometimes involves other trades on construction, repair, and design-build projects.
· Provide recommendations and technical support for equipment, products, materials, installation and
work methods that are needed to comply with codes or provide alternatives to the defined project design or specifications, especially as needed for contract negotiation.
· Perform duties of Site Safety & Health Officer on construction projects – developing Activity Hazard
Analyses, determining safety requirements, and monitoring work methods, environment, and personnel performance to assure safety and health on job sites.
· Perform duties of Quality Control Manager – develop and implement quality control methods, phasing and scheduling work, preparing submittal documents for engineering or government approval,
inspecting craftsmanship, equipment, and materials for contract compliance.
· Perform ordering and mobilization tasks: price equipment among competitive vendors, compile material lists, receive materials, stage project, implement safety and environmental controls, assure compliance with contract documents, track/check/approve material invoices, arrange equipment rental, and assist in coordinating with other trades and subcontractors.
· Establish methods, sequences of work and schedules to meet contracted deadlines and accommodate outages and other customer-required timelines.
· Participate in company project meetings, government pre-construction and progress meetings, site visits and inspections, safety discussions and training.
· Control labor and costs and meet scheduling requirements by careful planning, monitoring of work and
tracking actual costs in comparison to estimated costs.
· Perform final walk-through of project and prepare punchlist of items to be completed for final inspection by customer/contracting officials, including clean-up and de-mobilization.
· Provide recommendations to Electrical Supervisor/Superintendent, Compliance Officer, and President regarding work processes or problems, personnel assignments, employee recognition, disciplinary action, and to identify additional staffing and hiring needs.
