Position Description
Position Title:
Auditor / Inspector
Immediate Supervisor:
Program Manager
Full-time, non-exempt position, eligible for benefits immediately.
Position Summary:
This position acts as an ambassador in the homes of weatherization clients, explaining the program, performing audits to determine conservation measures needed, and providing energy conservation education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform daily home energy audits and determine conservation measures for CAADC Weatherization clients.
a. Perform a diagnostic air leakage test (blower door) on each weatherization home.
b. Perform a combustion heater test and identify problems on residential heaters for the weatherization program.
c. Measure buildings and their components
d. Accurately estimate weatherization materials needed to complete job
e. Prescribe house treatments that will have a significant impact on energy and safety problems using the State HES software.
f. Educate household regarding work being prescribed and energy conservation measures that can be taken to reduce waste and save money
g. Complete required written documentation
- Understand and apply the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Field Standards, measures and mechanical systems codes as per the Department of Energy Directives.
- Post-inspect completed work orders for heater contractors for payment.
- Provide back-up and fill in on the Weatherization Crew when needed.
- Attend mandatory trainings involving overnight travel as required by the DCED Weatherization Directives.
- Other duties as required.
Position Objectives:
- Provide excellent customer service and craftsmanship.
- Provide quality education regarding energy conservation and the benefits of weatherization work being completed in the home.
- Educate households regarding energy conservation measures that reduce waste and save money.
Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum of a high school degree, advanced schooling preferred, with at least five years experience working in a related trade such as construction, HVAC, etc., or an acceptable combination of education and experience that fulfills the knowledge and experience base required for this position.
This position requires strong communication skills, both oral and written. Also necessary is an understanding of building material used in everyday weatherization home construction, the ability to measure buildings and their components, the ability to accurately estimate weatherization material, the ability to give clearly written work orders to work crews and contractors, and the ability to prescribe house treatments that will have a significant impact on energy and safety problems.
This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a large van if needed
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described in this section are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties described herein, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, maneuver stairs and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Individual must be able to climb a ladder and perform occasional roof inspections.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
