Job Description:
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is seeking three Systems Analysts 2 to join our dynamic team. Under the guidance of the Project Manager and team leads, these analysts will play a crucial role in gathering requirements, facilitating the discovery process, and working with product owners and subject matter experts to document functional requirements and acceptance criteria. The analysts will effectively communicate these requirements to software development sprint teams through epics, features, and user stories.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Gathering:
Collaborate with product owners and subject matter experts to gather and document functional requirements.
Facilitate discovery processes to ensure comprehensive understanding of project needs.
Develop clear and detailed epics, features, and user stories.
Effective Communication:
Communicate requirements clearly to software development teams.
Lead meetings and facilitate discussions with stakeholders, asking probing "what if” and "what about” questions to clarify requirements.
Assist customers in articulating stories in clear and understandable ways.
Collaboration:
Work closely with testers and customer representatives to identify and verify acceptance criteria.
Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager to ensure alignment on project goals and progress.
Adaptability:
Quickly acquire a deep functional knowledge of the system.
Adapt to changing project requirements and agile development processes.
Documentation:
Create comprehensive documentation of functional requirements and acceptance criteria.
Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
Strong ability to lead meetings and ask probing questions to uncover detailed requirements.
Experience in agile development processes.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
Initiative and independent judgment within the scope of project guidelines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Supervision and Reporting:
Reports to the Project Manager.
Works under general supervision with appropriate latitude for initiative and independent judgment.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with the ability to gain a deep understanding of complex systems. They will possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable leading meetings and facilitating discussions. Experience with agile methodologies and the ability to adapt to changing project environments is essential. The candidate should also be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently when necessary.

7yrs - Required - Working with product owners and subject matter experts to gather functional requirements and preparing user stories for sprint teams specific to software development projects.
7yrs - Required - Leading sprint planning and grooming sessions.
7yrs - Required - Collaborating with product owners and IT development teams to elicit, analyze, and elaborate on epics/features; decomposing features into user stories defining both functional and non-functional requirements.
7yrs - Required - Analyzing and designing the process and data flows from upstream to downstream systems to meet the solution requirements.
7yrs - Required - Working in an Agile methodology project team environment.
7yrs - Required - Reviewing, evaluating and testing software and documenting findings to technical and non-technical staff.
7yrs - Required - Hands on analysis and experience with Java, REST APIs or similar web service experience and documenting their requirements
7yrs - Required - Writing and analyzing simple ad hoc queries.
7yrs - Required - Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff.
5yrs - Preferred - Having experience with technologies such as Oracle procedures and functions, Oracle forms and reports, and/or microservices is preferred.
5yrs - Preferred - Working with project and collaboration tools for project tracking, such as JIRA or similar.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
