Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and reliable nurse, surgical tech, or qualified medical assistant to join our team at our busy vein clinic in Juneau, Alaska. We currently diagnose and treat patients in Juneau two to three days per month. As such, our needs would be for two 11-hour days and then another 5-10 hours throughout the month preparing the clinic for the next physician visit and leading our patient aftercare initiatives. So, we are looking for a qualified applicant who wants to earn exceptional income, dedicating roughly 30-35 hours per month to Alaska Vein Care.
As a CMA, nurse, or surgical tech in our clinic, you will be responsible for assisting the physician with patient care during in-office procedures, consults, and during the patient's recovery. You will be performing clerical duties and ensuring the smooth operation of the Juneau clinic. Your primary duties will include prepping the room for sterile procedures, rooming patients, assisting physicians during procedures, maintaining medical records, and communicating with patients and staff, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that every patient is treated with the highest level of care clinically, emotionally, etc.
- Room patients and take vital signs
- Educate patients on the path to recovery, both in the clinic and afterward in their own home
- Perform laboratory procedures
- Assist with patient procedures and treatments as directed by the physician
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Assist with clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and filing
- Communicate with patients and staff in a professional and courteous manner
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Order and maintain supplies and equipment inventory
- Assist with other clinic operations as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant Certificate or Nursing Degree
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical setting preferred
- Knowledge of sterile preparation
- Knowledge of venous disease and treatment options is beneficial
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy
- Basic computer skills
