ABCD provides emergency food pantry services to households across Greater Boston through its Food Insecurity Program. Key Responsibilities
- Improve and manage ABCD's Food Delivery Program.
- Develop and implement systems and procedures of food pantry services.
- Evaluate program activities for efficacy and efficiencies.
- Assist in proposals, program budgets and executing contracts with partners.
- Assist in the ongoing development of ABCD food pantries.
- Scale and implement new programs designed to distribute more emergency food to community members in need.
- Elevate the work of the organization and the issues related to food insecurity within the community at food insecurity forums.
- Disseminate information about ABCD services throughout the community, representing the agency at meetings with other agencies, local groups, etc. as appropriate.
- Identify and facilitate new partnership opportunities.
- Maintenance of connections with vendors, subcontracts, new partnerships etc.
- Maintain records pertaining to food service operations, including amounts of food used, daily counts and inventory.
- Prepare weekly narrative reports regarding food access efforts to the Director of Field Operations.
- Coordinate activities for staff and volunteers.
- Coach, mentor, train, and educate team members to allow them to achieve their full potential and make a strong contribution to ABCD’s efforts.
- Maintain established standards of sanitation and ensure proper food safety protocols;
- Safely and efficiently receive, unload, sort, store, move, select, and load material with proper equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent college coursework in social sciences, public administration, business administration or related field, and three to five years of professional work experience, ideally in human services and nutrition food insecurity programming or similar project management required.
- Demonstrated ability in project management, logistics, food systems networks, and tracking and advancing programmatic deliverables.
- Ability to articulate goals, objectives, progress in written form for grant applications and reporting.
- Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the agency.
- Active Food Handling certification or the ability to obtain a certification within the first 3 months of employment also required.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance and a good driving record required.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
