Assistant Director of Student Services ($85,000-$95,000 a year)1.To coordinate special education services for out of district students, attend team meetings that may result in restrictive placements, special education and McKinney-Vento transportation, recruitment and hiring of staff, provide professional development/training to staff, be a resource to staff.Supervision: Reports to the Director of Student ServicesPerformance Responsibilities: 1.Acts as the liaison and district contact person for students in and out of district placements and their families. Complete required documentation, monitoring plans and contracts for approved and unapproved out of district placements. Coordinate service delivery and case management for students and families in and out of district placements.2.Complete transition & educational assessments needed to determine current performance levels and priorities for educational services for out of district students and in-district students as needed.3.Coordinate and approve requests for special transportation and McKinney-Vento transportation for in and out of district students.4.Coordinate services collaborate with outside agencies and arrange for all documentation required by DESE and the district for students who are participating in community-based transition programs including students participating in Home Based services, The Inclusive Concurrent Enrollment Program, and students who are between the ages of 18-22 and whose services are entirely community based.5.Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of staff.6.Participate in performance evaluations for assigned staff.7.Attend and participate in staff meetings, internal and external training sessions, and conferences, as requested.8.Attend annual review and re-evaluation meetings that are likely to result in restrictive placement.9.Coordinate and conduct emergency placement meetings if necessary.10.Complete management reports and other reports at the request of the Special Education Director.11.Provide professional development and information related to Special Education eligibility, entrance/exit criteria and Special Ed regulations.12.Consult with special education teachers/service providers regarding effective interventions for students.
