The Veterinarian (DVM) Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of a pet hospital. The assistant provides essential support to the veterinarian and ensures the animals' well-being and the client's satisfaction. The ideal canidate has knowledge of basic veterinary care and can effectively relay inforation to clients in kind and concise manner.
Berkeley Animal Hospital is a privately owned clinic in Berkeley. We are seeking a full-time veterinary assistant to help our owner/ medical director with day to day needs. This is more of an administrative job, but there may be times when helping comfort a pet during an exam or treatment is needed.

Job duties include:
Administrative Support:

Scheduling: Manage the veterinarian’s calendar, including appointments, surgeries, and meetings.

Correspondence: Handle incoming and outgoing communication, including emails, phone calls, and mail.

Documentation: Maintain and organize patient records, medical histories, and other essential documents.

Billing: Assist with invoicing, processing payments, and managing financial records.
Client Interaction:

Client Communication: Communicate with clients about appointments, procedures, and follow-up care.

Education: Provide pet care, nutrition, and preventive measures information.
Medical Assistance:

Preparation: Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas for procedures, ensuring all necessary tools and supplies are available.

Support During Procedures: Assist the veterinarian during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Animal Care:

Basic Care: Provide primary care for animals.

Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Three years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous Veterinary experience: 2 years or more.

We are a newly constructed and privately owned small animal clinic. Our 3000-square-foot facility has five exam rooms, a large treatment area, a dental suite, a surgery suite, and Free warming cages. We have two full-time doctors, who offer acupuncture and have on-call specialists in internal medicine, cardiology, and surgery.
