OBJECTIVE:
The Employment Coordinator at St. Mary's Center for Women and Children is dedicated to empowering individuals experiencing homelessness by facilitating access to meaningful employment opportunities. This position focuses on developing and implementing employment-related services that align with our mission to break the cycle of poverty.
NATURE AND SCOPE:

Core Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal teams to design and deliver job readiness and workforce development programs that address the specific needs of families in transitional housing.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local employers, employment agencies, and vocational training providers to create opportunities for program participants.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and support to individuals in job search, resume building, interview preparation, and skill enhancement.
- Develop and implement strategies to track and measure employment outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement of employment services.
- Advocate for systemic changes that promote fair hiring practices and enhance employment opportunities for marginalized communities.
Scholarship Management
- Collaborate with members of the Scholarship Selection Committee to oversee the annual scholarship program, including scholarship applications and interviewing, onboarding paperwork, and regular reporting throughout the scholarship.
- Participate in maintenance of all records and data for the scholarship program through the Education and Employment Scholarship Tracker.
Other Duties as Assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Skills
- Understanding of the barriers faced by individuals experiencing homelessness in accessing employment and the ability to design responsive and inclusive employment programs.
- Knowledge of statewide employment resources, financial literacy programs, career exploration programs and community services.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain relationships with employers, community partners, and residents.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting, with the ability to track program outcomes and measure the impact of employment and fiscal literacy initiatives.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches and a commitment to promoting dignity and respect in the employment process.
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in human resources, Social Work, Business, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in workforce development, job placement, or related fields, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
