Description: Golden Hills School, an independent, non-profit, CAIS, WASC and IB Middle Years Program accredited school with students in JK-8 grade, seeks an Athletic Director/ Physical Education teacher. The teacher will be instructing students in Junior Kindergarten to eighth grade.
Start Date: August 1, 2024
Position Type: Full-time , Placement on the Golden Hills School salary schedule commensurate with qualifications and full-time classroom teaching experience, Benefits (Medical, Vision, Dental, Life)
The ideal candidate must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree
- A Teaching Credential
- Three or more years of teaching experience
- Effective classroom management skills and natural rapport with students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with all constituencies
The following are preferred qualifications:
- International Baccalaureate (IB) school experience.
- Experience in an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
- Experience teaching in an independent school.
The position may entail, but is not limited to
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate physical education program.
- Develop, manage, and supervise developmentally appropriate athletic and physical education programs in line with the school’s overall educational mission and goals and are accessible to all students.
- Administer guidance for sports programming.
- Confer with coaches to establish games, events, and practice schedules.
- Work with coaches to determine travel arrangements.
- Establish league schedules.
- Select, recruit, and oversee coaching staff.
- Communicate with the community about sports programs.
- Order and distribute athletic apparel.
- Assesses and provides differentiated instruction for individual differences among students.
- Verbally communicates with children in a positive manner. Communicate clearly and honestly in verbal, electronic, and written form with parents, administrators, and colleagues about curriculum, children, and child development issues.
- Demonstrates professionalism through reliability, punctuality, cooperation, organization, participation in meetings, and staff development opportunities, as well as personal appearance and self-care, and maintains personal integrity and a respectful attitude in professional relationships.
- Keeps current in contemporary pedagogical thinking, strategies, and techniques through reading of professional journals and attendance at professional conferences, workshops, and courses.
- Establish links with the parent community to ensure that parents are kept well informed about student progress
- Timely and professional communication with community members.
- Follow and adhere to Golden Hills policies and procedures
- Always act in the best interests of Golden Hills
- Carry out the mission statement of Golden Hills
- Attend staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in the Act as a condition of employment.
A background check (including a criminal records check for GHS and the State of California, Community Care Licensing Division) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with Golden Hills School.
