Premier Transportation is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Shop Manager to join our team in Charlotte NC.
What we are looking for:
1. Supervision and Leadership:
- Manage Technicians: Direct and supervise a team of up to 10 diesel mechanics and technicians.
- Assign Work: Allocate repair and maintenance tasks based on priorities, deadlines, and technician expertise.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to technicians, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols and industry standards.
2. Maintenance and Repair:
- Diagnosis: Oversee the diagnostic process for diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other components of tractors and trailers.
- Troubleshooting: Assist technicians in troubleshooting complex issues and finding effective solutions.
- Quality Control: Ensure all repairs meet quality standards and specifications.
3. Inventory and Resource Management:
- Parts and Supplies: Manage inventory of parts and supplies to support efficient maintenance operations.
- Tools and Equipment: Ensure availability and proper maintenance of tools and equipment necessary for repairs.
4. Compliance and Documentation:
- Safety Regulations: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and operational efficiency.
5. Customer Service:
- Interaction: Communicate with customers to understand their service needs and provide updates on repair progress.
- Resolution: Address customer concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues.
6. Operational Support:
- Scheduling: Coordinate repair and maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
- Efficiency Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in the repair and maintenance process.
- Cost Management: Monitor expenses and implement cost-effective measures.
7. Technical Expertise:
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in diesel engine and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Computer Literacy: Must be able to easily operate a computer. Must be skilled in MS office suites and have and data entry applications.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Five years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with technicians, customers, and management.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions under pressure.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational training in diesel mechanics or a related field is beneficial.
- Certification from organizations such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) preferred.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must have a clean MVR.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a DOT Physical
- Must own your own work tools.
