Summary
The Manufacturing Quality Manger is responsible for managing quality control functions and ensuring effective communication of quality control and quality assurance information during the night shift. This role supports the client in meeting or exceeding internal and external customer goals.
Job Duties
· Make decisions related to quality on the night shift.
· Provide guidance to QC Supervisors and Quality Control Support Supervisors.
· Monitor the QC department during the night shift.
· Act as the lead person on the night shift until further notice.
· Support decisions on production issues.
· Manage customer/supplier defect flow-out containment on-site.
· Relay shift notes to QC Management (and PD Management as required).
· Audit internal systems and processes to ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
· Collaborate with Quality Engineers on Production Control Reports (PCRs) as needed.
· Support weekend production as necessary.
· Investigate and troubleshoot quality issues by reviewing drawings and other quality documents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· In-depth knowledge of automobile parts functions and their quality requirements.
· Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple assignments to meet deadlines/targets.
· Strong problem-solving skills based on data collection and analysis to determine root causes.
· Effective communication skills with all levels of the organization.
· Proficiency in reading part drawings.
· Ability to learn unfamiliar processes through hands-on work, observation, and research.
· Knowledge of welding and weld inspection, machining, and assembly processes.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial) or 5 years of production-related work experience in welding, machining, and/or assembly in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Specialized Knowledge
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
· Knowledge of Toyota Production System (TPS) and 5S methodology.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
· Primarily works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and varying temperatures.
· May require working outside of regular business hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to oversee operations and handle emergencies.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
· Ability to bend, kneel, and reach overhead frequently.
